OUR HISTORY TWO CAT DIGITAL is the creation of Howard Brainen, a thirty year veteran of the photographic industry. Brainen was a professional photographer for many years before starting one of the premier photographic laboratories, CUSTOM PROCESS, in Berkeley, California. It was at CUSTOM PROCESS that he turned his company's photographic and technical expertise to digital imaging, entering the field in 1988. In 1992, they installed one of the first Kodak Photo CD scanning stations in the world, and operated a number of them over the years. Brainen sensed a need for a database that could manage the millions of image files being created through the digitization of photographs. At the time (1995) no robust system existed, so Brainen and his team designed and built one from scratch. The "Image Database and Delivery System" was completed in 1996 and first used by the Hewlett-Packard Company. TWO CAT DIGITAL was started in 2003 as a company dedicated to large digitization projects and digital imaging consulting for libraries, museums and corporate archives. The company employs a team of highly qualified professionals and support staff to provide an array of specialized services (see "Capabilities"). Howard Brainen is involved in the daily operation of the company and acts as the senior consultant. |
