THE NEXT GENERATION!
Now with TIFF and JPEG files.
PHOTO CD II is one of two replacements
(with PRO
PHOTO CD II
for the well known Kodak Photo CD disc. We know the Kodak discs
very well, having scanned more than 5 million images to them
since the introduction of the system in 1992.
Kodak stopped selling and servicing the scanning stations in
2001, and stopped making the Photo CD Master and Pro media the
following year, so after inventories of discs are gone, customers
will need a replacement disc for scanning their film. We have
introduced PHOTO
CD II to
fill this important need.
These new PHOTO
CD II discs
retain many of the features that made Kodak Photo CD so popular:
low cost, index prints for easy indentification of images, and
availability from original full rolls, as well as already processed
rolls, strips and slides ("reorder scans"). But with
PHOTO CD
II you
get industry standard file formats (TIFF or JPEG), which means
you don't have to convert them from a proprietary Kodak format.
You also get a higher quality scan in terms of sharpness, color
quality and dynamic range.
Here
are some features of the new PHOTO
CD II:
-Two files
provided for each image
-Main file available as TIFF (uncompressed; best quality) or
highest quality JPEG
-A smaller, JPEG file is also included for each scan
-Available from full rolls, cut film and mounted slides; color
and B&W
-Available from 35mm as well as 120 film sizes
-20mb files are bigger than the highest resolution on Kodak Photo
CD Master discs
-All discs include custom index print wtih thumbnails and filenames

*File
sizes are approximate and vary with aspect ratio of original
material being scanned. These sizes are for the uncompressed
TIFF files. JPEG files are created at highest quality level and
will be approximately 20mb when decompressed.
*When scanning full rolls of 35mm film, we reduce the size to
16-18mb so the entire roll will fit on a standard CD.
NOTE: For larger file
sizes and availabiliy from 4x5 film, see PRO PHOTO CD II and ARCHIVE CD.
VARIATIONS
JPEG + JPEG - If you specify when ordering, we can write both
the larger file and the 6mb file as JPEG format. Although TIFF
is uncompressed and has no loss, our high quality JPEG files
are excellent and this option allows us to write over 100 images
to each disc.
OPTIONS
CUSTOM FILENAMING - Alpha numeric, sequential or unique
CROPPING - Crop to image, edge crop for clean border, custom
cropping as specified
COLOR CORRECTIONS - Color, density, contrast and saturation can
be adjusted to match a sample or simply to improve a faded image.
PHOTO DVD - Same scans written
to DVD-R media; 6x the capacity of CD
